Before you book anything

You probably have questions. Let's start there.

You don't need to book anything just to be here. Sometimes you just want to know if what you're feeling is normal, whether therapy actually helps, or what on earth happens in a first session. That's what this page is for.

If you've found your way here, something has probably been sitting heavy for a while. Anxiety that won't switch off. A loss that hasn't settled. A relationship or a memory that still has a grip on you. Or just a quiet feeling that you don't like who you are right now. You don't need the right words for it yet. You just need somewhere to start looking.

I'm Rozella, a trauma-informed counsellor based in Scunthorpe, and I work with people in person and online across the UK. Below are the questions I get asked most, by clients before their first session, and by people who never book at all but still needed the answer. Have a look through whatever feels relevant to you.

The practical questions

Not sure if therapy is even the right move, or what a first session looks like? That's covered separately, honestly and without any sales pitch.

A note on urgency: this site isn't set up for crisis support. If you're in immediate danger or at risk of harming yourself, please contact emergency services (999) or the Samaritans (116 123, free, 24/7) rather than waiting on a reply here.

If something here felt familiar, and you're wondering whether talking to someone might help, there's no pressure to decide that today.
